The Theory of Evolution

The theory of evolution states that all individual species have evolved from simple life forms-alive three billion years ago (e.g. prokaryotes).

Natural Selection

Natural Selection was a theory first proposed by Charles Darwin in his book, 'On the Origin of Species,' published in 1859.

Natural Selection established that individuals within a species have a wide range of variation due to differences in genes. Individuals with characteristics most suited to the environment are more likely to survive and reproduce; the genes that allow the individual to thrive are passed down to the next generation (their offspring).

Within the last 12,000 years, Homo Sapiens have used technology and culture to adapt and to remove selective pressures from the natural world which has reduced the need for natural selection.
